Did You Create Value In Your Life Today?
30 Jan 2009 by Juliet du Preez

Did You Create Value In Your Life Today?

If you look at your life as it's passed today,
Have you created value as you've gone your way?
Have lived your principles and followed your heart?
Have you captured each moment to the fullest part?

Consider your body, your physical being,
Do you treat it with awareness? Are there things you're not seeing?
For it's not just some garment that you can discard;
It is how you exist here, don't let it be scarred.

If you move to your mind, your thoughts and your speak,
Have they been good and focussed or idle and weak?
Are they driving you forward on your chosen way?
Or lost in the past; maybe worried beyond today?

From thoughts come emotions and then how you act.
We can deal with them wisely, stay steadfast in fact.
Did you use your emotions to the best that you can?
Or were they so overwhelming that they ruined any plan?

When you met other people, spent time in their lives,
Did you do it with care and respect, or with knives?
Share and give and enhance mankind?
Or lacking commune, take all you could find?

When you went about working the path of your life,
Did you do it with presence and peace, or with strife?
Energy, enthusiasm, purpose and delight?
Or resistance and effort, pain and fight?

If you look at your life as it's passed today,
Have you created value as you've gone your way?
Have lived your principles and followed your heart?
Have you captured each moment to the fullest part?

 Unbelievable....
Seriously! It resonates 100% with my take in life.
To reach the peak of personal power one needs to be aware of 4 dimensions:
- Spiritual
- Intellectual
- Physical
- Emotional

And that i exactly what you laid out in your post

Too cool!

 Juliet,

This is so wonderfully written. The thoughts that came to my mind just covered such a large range of my being. And I kept thinking about what this really means in my life today. And that's a great thought to have. In all areas - is it good or is it not so good.

You write poetry wonderfully Juliet! Thanks so much for sharing it here today. What a true blessing you are!

 Juliet,

I can't believe you wrote this, yet I can. It's beautiful. Very you. And very powerful in getting me to think about what I did today.

The line about whether I treated others with care and respect or with knives itself cut me like a knife. Thanks for the reminder.

Stumbled!

You certainly have an inspiring way of prompting people to ask their own questions. Only each individual can ultimately decide whether he or she is living to the fullest. The perception of meaning inlife changes with illness or when other obstacles present. The answer to every situation I ever encounter is compassion. Somtimes this is a hard lesson to learn, but I evolve to sense value in developing new levels of awareness.

Thanks for your comment at Dreambuilders Australia. I have responded to your recent post and look forward to expanding further.

Juliet, this was very deftly wrought. It was such a creative way of conveying the questions we should ask ourselves often. In fact, it was just lovely. Thank you! ~Julie

I like it a lot, Juliet. I am really enjoying the results of this value writing project. It has been a big hit, as far as I am concerned.

I like how you acknowledge how you can approach each situation is a positive way or a negative way. What I took away from your poem is that each time you are given a new chance to do something good, you can either value that chance, or disregard it.

Your poem is a blessing and a reminder. Each step we take on our life journey offers us a choice and we can choose to have a valued added experience or not.

Thanks so much for sharing it.

Hi juliet, so beautifully composed and so spread out .. touching everything that matters ! Got me thinking . I loved it ... all the verses; but this one I liked a lot ... as a measuring tool for if u r living the life u want or not:
" When you went about working the path of your life,
Did you do it with presence and peace, or with strife?
Energy, enthusiasm, purpose and delight?
Or resistance and effort, pain and fight? "

Great reminder for all & great value created by u, I swear !!

 Juliet!

This is so beautiful! And it offers so much value for us all - thank you!

When we take a moment out to really look, to really hear and to really feel - we find out things about ourselves and others that have a big impact on how we continue to live our lives.

Hi Juliet .. I am so delighted you're overwhelmed .. you deserve to be .. it's put all our persepctives into focus.

It is so lovely & so easy to read .. & yet reminds us of life & how we can improve ourselves ..

We need a poet laureate in England .. I think you should be it .. but perhaps not I think we'll keep you for us .. - more please ..

how on earth they said you couldn't write .. totally bemuses me .. I'm glad you've found your path in life .. it'll help us all - congratulations .. & love Hilary

That's a question we should ask ourselves every single day. If we aren't creating value then we aren't fulfilling our life's destiny.

I feel like I am creating value through my blog and in my relationships. Yes, I admit that I could take it up a notch, but as long as I keep growing and improving I'm fine with where I'm heading.

 Hi everyone

Did anyone notice that I've been procrastinating with answering comments on this post?

Did anyone notice that I have not been doing my usual individual comment replies?

I think I will resume to my old ways next post ;)

Thank you for the kind words and stumbles. It really brings joy into my heart that I could give others some pleasure and inspiration.

This is fantastic article. I think one needs to introspect at night regarding the whole day and make room for improvisations each day.

Your thought really becomes your destiny!
